The last family owned funeral home in Thurston County.

Roosevelt "Rosie" Lawson was born in Bamberg, South Carolina on November 17, 1937.

Roosevelt started driving at an early age, (13) , and he would drive the school bus to pick up other kids and then go to school. He also worked as a cook as a teenager at a restaurant called Ziggy's. He was a master at cooking.

He joined the Army in 1961 and married his wife of 61 years, Lois (Tyler) Lawson in 1962. They had two sons and one daughter. They truly got to see the world, as he was stationed in Germany, California and Panama as a family. He also did a tour in Vietnam during the war and was also stationed in Turkey. He settled in the beautiful state of Washington as his last "tour of duty".

After retiring from the Army he successfully opened and operated his own business, Lawson Burlwood Creations. One of his proudest achievements was having burlwood clocks commissioned to be made for the United States Pentagon.

He was an extremely kind and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was the epitome of selflessness.

Roosevelt "Rosie" Lawson is survived by his wife Lois (Tyler) Lawson, son Roderick Lawson, daughter Tonya Karlsson, son-in-law Benny Karlsson, grandson Cody McKinstry, granddaughter Shavon McKinstry, sister Magalene "Toot" Ransom and an aunt Rosanna Lawson-McDonald and many friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 5930 Mullen Rd SE Lacey, WA 98503, on October 20th 2023 at 11:00am, with a reception to follow for light refreshments and snacks. No dress code.
